Selichot Tours

We invite you to join us for rich Selichot Tours of Jerusalem, full of spirituality and stories, every year in the month of Elul. The tours take place in two locations:

The Old City’s Jewish Quarter: The closer the Ten Days of Repentance get – between Rosh HaShana and Yom Kipur – the more travelers come to absorb the unique Jerusalemite atmosphere. The end of the Selichot tour naturally flows to the Western Wall, as a merging point of the travelers with a powerful experience that cannot be matched. We will go through the synagogues that the locals come to pray at, go up to an exciting vantage point overlooking the Western Wall plaza, discuss the High Days and what is so high about them. We will, obviously, visit the Western Wall, where you can hear different styles and formats of Selichot, starting midnight.

The Magical Nachlaot Neighborhood: The Nachlaot neighborhood, which is shrouded in mystery all year around, seems especially beautiful during the month of mercy and Selichot. The tour begins as we leave behind the earthly market neighborhood and Nachlaot. We will tell the story of those who left the walls, enjoy the twilight atmosphere and tell of the difference between a Selicha (forgiveness) and Kapara (atonement) and that which is between a man and his friend, especially in light of the Selichot days. We will learn the difference between Sephardic and Ashkenazi, discuss the meaning of the liturgical poems, those who wrote them, the times in which they were written and read some of them. A tour in a Selichot atmosphere, which can only be experienced through a tour of a neighborhood tying together all spectrums of Israeli society.
